Regarding this:

So if i leave the video card BIOS as-is, it will not go over 40W TDP, even within a Linux environment (meaning roughly 300% the GFLOPs, at a cost of 133% TDP)?

I'm asking due to the discrepancy between Nvidia's advertised TDP for the card (60W), versus the actual TDP (~40W) as dictated by its BIOS.
The main focus of this forum is help with the FAH software provided by Stanford University. While an expert who happens to know enough details about the BIOS or the TDP or about what capabilities can be accessed on Linux may happen to notice your question and provide a good answer, this forum is not the best place to find the answers you're seeking. This question should be asked on a forum run by the GPU manufacturer or a hardware enthusiast forum.

I also have a 620, but only get 1250 ppd. I'm running v7, get core_17 jobs, and easily meet deadlines. Would I do better with v6? If so, why?

Unfortunately I've been playing around removing the "advanced" option I was running with and then trying different WUs by deleting the work folder a few times, so the log is pretty garbled.

Also, I don't actually "easily" meet deadlines -- on closer inspection, my GPU eta is only just under the Timeout.

OK there is a passkey in the config, so you will get some quick return bonus. But if you "only just" meet the deadline, the bonus for quick return will be small.

And of course if you keep deleting WUs, your may not qualify as your success rate will be under 80%. Please do not delete WUs unless you really need to.

Probably your card is a GT 620 (Fermi microarchitecture), with 48 cuda cores. 620 is unable to fit in the deadline core_17. You get partial credit only (1250 ppd). I think you have two options:

1. Download the Client Version 6.41r2. There you will get WUs only from Core_15:
p7620-7627; Preferred (days) - 37.94; Credit - 14094
p8018; Preferred (days) - 13.77; Credit - 5757

2. I see that you have a question for "second-generation Maxwells". I guess this is a better solution.

I forgot about the 80% rule; luckily I only deleted a few WUs out of the hundreds I've done.

I don't spend money on F@H, I'm just looking to get the most out of what is available to me. Think I'll just leave the 620 alone to get on with it -- it runs 24/7 and folds when active, so I'll just live with only squeaking in.

It should be noted that there are two types of GT 620's. One is a rebranded GT 520 (48 cores @ 1.6 GHz) and the other is a rebranded GT 530 (96 cores @ 1.4 GHz) so the ability to meet deadlines can easily vary by a factor of 1.7.

Yes bruce, you're right. But from Dan_G log:
10:30:10: GPU 0: NVIDIA:2 GF119 [GeForce GT 620]
According to Wikipedia:
GeForce GT 620 ....GF119....48 cuda cores
GeForce GT 620 .....GF108....96 cuda cores

That explains the difference in performance between my (oem) 620 and the other...

Thanks for the information

My TPF on the 620 has increased to the point where it will miss the expiration deadline, so I've disabled it for the time being. No point wasting electricity if the work won't be used.

I suspect I haven't been paying close enough attention to this machine's GPU slot and its deadlines.

*Someone* -- I'm afraid I can't recall who -- suggested I go back to Nvidia 31x series drivers to improve the performance of my 620 card. Indeed, going back to 314 has greatly reduced my TPF and my eta is below Timeout once again.

Thank you, whoever it was!
