Does anyone knows why my card can get to 2314 mhz on the core when i manuall overclock it with the gpu curve +400 above factory overclock msi gtx 1060 x and when you just use the sliders it wont go over 2050mhz max the only thing i can think of is that when you use the curve the clockspeed you pressed in will only be used at a specific voltage. might be some usfull information who wants to overclock and used the sliders instead of the curve. (this only applies to pascal gpus)

I lowered the clock by 50 mhz just to be sure that im stable

Which torture tests does it survive with this clock speed?

2214 folding at home 24/7 without a single crash on 1.081 so potentionally even higher clock speed possible but dont run folding at home on 1.093 but it survived msi kombuster at 1.093 just fine for 1h then i clocked it down to be stable and then to 2214 so i can fold on lower mhz and voltage but still way higher then what i was able to get with the normal sliders

from all torture test i guess folding is pretty much on top together with prime for cpu but for gpu i guess folding

I wouldn't push the card so hard - otherwise you might find its dead quite quickly....

yeah i know but temps and voltage are in check and this was more a testing topic to see the diffrence between the manuall sliders to overclock or use the curve. But ill put it on a milder overclock to safe its lifetime a bit. nice ppd btw

Thanks, That's a 1080 and a 1070 running full time, currently awaiting a PSU to bring up a 980ti and 750ti. Although if santa is nice I may get enough funds for an upgrade, in which case the 980ti will go in my main rig and i'll get a pscal gpu for folding - they are much nicer on the power bill

yeah the 10 series from nvidia are great cards keep up the folding :D

I should track my historic power bill. If I buy a new GPU every few years and sell/discard the old one, how many years do I need to keep it before the saved costs of the power pays for a new GPU?

depends a lot on your current card i guess

It also depends on when you started GPU folding. I only started back up last year following the end of the bigadv program so my gpu's were all reasonably new and I was able to get a decent 2nd hand price for them when I sold them off. This next 10xx card will be my last for about 18months though as funds are needed for other projects
