Hello everyone
I´m relatively new to folding and after folding on my normal work PC I want to build a low cost folding PC. I´ve found an old Pentium 4 630 computer lying around and now my question is:
The motherboard is apparently just having a PCIe 1.0/1.1 x16 slot and my old GTX 550 Ti wants to have a PCIe 2.0 x16. In prinicple it should work, but does someone of you know if I´m introducing a bottleneck into the system by planning it like this? The bandwidth of the PCIe 1 x16 should be near a PCIe 2.0 x8.
How much efficiency would I lose due to this and will it affect the perfomance so much that building it like that won´t make sense?
Thank you for taking time to answer my questions.
Best regards,
Paul

Re: Pentium 4 630 & GTX 550 ti - PCIe bandwidth problem?
The PCIe bandwidth won't be the problem, but I'm afraid that the P4 might not be able to prepare data for the GPU fast enough ...
