NVIDIA GTX 1070 Ti

Post by Aurum »

So what's the verdict? Is the 1070 Ti worth it's price?

I would say not, especially as if you look hard enough you can get a 1080 for the same money

Just wondering if you had any issues running a 1080ti and 1070ti on the same motherboard? When I tried a 1050ti and 1050 together on the same motherboard, the 1050ti would never get more than 45K PPD, while the 1050 was doing 80K-90K PPD, it didn't matter which slot I had the 1050ti in. I can pull the 1050 out and only run the 1050ti and get 125K-149K. Just curious.

You should be able to, I've had a 1080 and 750ti work together and currently have a 1070 and 1050ti work together at full speed

That's what I figured, not sure why it wasn't working of me.

They work fine for me using driver 388.13.

I'm I now my drivers are all to date. But off the top of my head I'm not sure which driver was the last I tried it with. I pulled the 1050ti out and have just the 1050 running for now making sure it's running ok and at PPD. I have a bunch of spare parts and bought a motherboard and CPU off eBay to rune the 1050ti. Although I know the 1050ti runs fine on its own, so I will do that for now. I have rack that I started to build to house all the extra folding rigs.

Maybe the PPDs are being reported the wrong way around, this happens with different cards recognized. I run a GTX 1080 alongside a GTX 1050ti and the 1050ti does between 120-190k ppd depending on WUs (in win 7 latest drivers) it very clear to me which card is which, but a 1050 and a 1050ti may be confused. Suggest the 1050ti the bigger producer no matter how identified.

Good point, kiore.

@Teknogroovin
Are you running the released V7.4.4 client? It's not uncommon for the installation code to interchange two GPUs if they're from the same manufacturer, (particularly in Windows, if that's what you're running.) I know the beta version has seem some changes in this area, but I"m not sure if it's 100% fixed, even there.

Then, too, are the PCIe slots running at the expected speeds?

Yeah I have deleted and reloaded the software more times than I can count and it's running the V7.4.4. If that's true than the 1050 is only doing 45K PPD, which is very low for it. I've been running the 1050 on its own for three days now and its 90K-105K on average per day. I've even tried switching it to the other motherboard, which was a nightmare! Does the same thing, so it's not a motherboard issue, unless it's because it is the same board MSI Gaming 5. It says in the specs it's 8x, 8x with dual cards, not sure what's going on with it. For now I have bought a cheap motherboard and CPU, I have the rest of the parts laying around so I will just build another system. That way they each have their own computer giving them the ability to work at full capacity.

Thank you to everyone that has been helping trying to figure out what's going on.

Well come to find my GTX 1050ti is bad. I noticed that the fans weren't spinning when I got home. I tried it in a different slot on the motherboard and even tried it on another motherboard. Luckily its still under warranty so off it goes to get repaired.

A properly clocked 1050Ti can score just over 200k. Just so you know.

Yeah not that I have it back from EVAG after it died. It's now getting 210K average with my 1050Ti now.
