Super 1065 cards

Post by rickoic »

Haven't seen these reviewed yet. Are they just 1070's that didn't make the cut?

Are 1075 supers (if available) just 1080's that didn't make the cut?

(I am just a user like you, I have no inside information)

One plan to releasing new chips is to arrange so blocks can be disabled without throwing out the whole chip. (A core i3 with defective blocks may sell as a Pentium)

Nvidia made a GTX 2070 chip with 2560 units, hoping 2304 of them will test good, and they can sell that chip. 9/10, so the chip has 10 blocks and if 9 are good, it is a GTX 2070
Once is a blue moon all 2560 units test good. As they get better and better at making the chip, more and more have all 2560 units test good.

That is where we are with the super cards. Now that the Turing micro-architecture is mature, Nvidia has more perfect chips,

The process of keeping the best aside is called binning. you could bin for speed, or for good units, etc.

if the manufacturer had to wait until all parts were perfect, we would never get anything new in electronics

1650 Super cards are slightly better than the standard 1650.
They're close to the performance of the 1660, without the energy savings benefits of the GT 1660 cards.

I'd suspect that the GT 1650 Super would take on a GTX 1060, in terms of performance.

Never heard about those references ... 1065 or 1075 are not actual cards ...
