When I look at a card to fold, I want to see two things, it should support OpenCL 1.2, and it should have Double Precision floating point math.

That card does not support OpenCL 1.2, sorry.

The one you posted shows 6gb, the add says 18gb, are you sure its the correct one ?

And thanks for that, i didnt know what to look for folding, so i can just switch the card for a standard one ?

The seller sent me more pictures and it's a fermi card, also it's a dual xeon x5675, should be not bad to fold with 2 cpus ?

Dual 6-core processors, 24 threads, should do okay. As 9 year old processors, they will be a bit behind more recent chips, and use about 160-180 W during folding. Replace the GPU with a more modern one, and that would be usable.

Everything should fold in this machine, but since it's quite old, it won't be efficient ...

Don't trust the supported OpenCL version, all you need to look at is if FP64 is supported. See my post here : viewtopic.php?p=320829#p320829

alright so i picked it up, running great, takes 2h to do a task, but in cpu-z its only saying 6 cores 6 threads per cpu, when HT is enabled, should be 24 threads no ? bios is not the same as a usual pc so im not used to it, how do i enabled the other 12 threads ?

also how do i make both cpus work at the same time for 2 task ?

Not sure where it will be (very bios dependant) but you should be able to track it down - good luck .. as to cores, if you are just CPU folding run a 24core slot - there should be enough WUs out there to keep it busy and it will turn round WUs much faster … faster turn round of WUs helps the science progress.

yeah it was really not where i expected it to be, found it where the hyper threading was hiding.

is it better to run F@H with HT or not ?

so i can run 12 without HT or 24 with HT task at the same time ? so it relies on the cores and thread not CPUs ?

In that they are Xeons I'd kind of expect the performance to be better run at 24 (but that is gut instinct - sometimes I do suffer from indigestion) though you might find the system runs a tad hotter … Worth having a good hardware monitor (I use HWMonitor - but there are others just as good or better).

For your Xeons Tcase is 81.3C (don't think they did TJmax in those days) https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en ... l-qpi.html

Some WUs are limited to lower core counts (12 or lower) which could be an argument for 2x 12core slots, but I have generally found I get better PPD (and therefore iirc value to science) off running the one larger core count slot.

For your Xeons Tcase is 81.3C is what it should show above … for some reason this post is showing correct here and in preview but keeps dropping half a sentence in live :(

im debating removing the heatsink and reapply some artic silver 5, i did this to the quadro 6000 since it was idling at 82 degres, and ran msi and its keeping idle between 48-54 degres with the fan at 40-50%

max temp at high performance with intel extreme tuning utility, max speed of 3.46ghz, 100% utilisation is currently 78degres on both cpus

also i was looking into either a 1060 blower style or 1070 blower... 1060 6GB 200$ CAD used or 1070 8GB 300$ CAD used.. i have 2 6pin on the power supply on my HP Z800, but the 1070 takes 1x8pin..

my quadro has 1x6pin and 1x8pin and plugged in with only a 6pin in it... should i just play safe and buy the 1060 instead of the 1070 with 8pins ?

i dont wanna burn that power supply cause i have no clue where to find a used one.. it aint a conventional power supplt lol
