Curious thing: I checked Nvidia's website and they had a new driver available. One of the issues fixed was a deadlocked renderer attempting multiple small commands (paraphrasing here). My K4200 was enabled by the new driver, so I will let it be and see what happens.

Well, so much for that. My computer got hung overnight. K4200 is disabled again, just to let the rest of the computer work. Not expecting much from Nvidia wrt this issue.

Final word from Nvidia:
When using two GPUs from different chip generations, the performance usually defaults to the lower performing card.
I believe your tests showed that after removing the K4200, you could run FAH at medium with no issues.
So you should get better performance and more stability by simply removing the K4200.
