As more and more users stuck at 50-70% of their GPU utilization, i call for posting the info on optimal CPU - GPU configuration for GPU2 folding.

For ex.: q6600@3.0 GHz - 2600 Pro (600/700) = 99% GPU activity, 700 PPD (win xp pro sp2, Catalyst 8.3, gpu folding 6.11beta3, 512 mb hypermemory on videocard)

Intel

P4 520@3.47 GHz - 2600 Pro (688/500) = 88% GPU activity, 698 PPD (2799 project) (OS, drivers: unknown, gpu folding 6.11beta3) thx RAH
q6600@3.0 GHz - 2600 Pro (stock) = 99% GPU activity, 660 PPD (2799 project) (vista ultimate 32bit, Catalyst 8.3, gpu folding 6.11beta3, 512 mb model) thx ChrisDTS

Project # is always 2799 until Stanford releases another :)
I'm in WinXP, ATI's Official Catalyst 8.3 drivers.
Let's go with just my most recent result for simplicity.
Core2 Quad/Q9300, Radeon 3850/512MB (WinXP SP2)

My set up is an Opteron 180 , 2.41 ghz, 3870 gpu, stock speeds,56 to 60% core usage,1.13 minutes per step average.1143 ppd

Intel D820 2.8Ghz 3870 512M GPU usage alternates between 29% at 769Mhz core clock and 69% at 297Mhz core clock according to the graph produced by RIVA tuner v2.08 Hardware monitoring. 577 PPD project 2799 WinXP SP2 Catalyst 8.3. 2GB Ram
Was running SMP client at 769 PPD but discontinued (24hr/day running necessary to meet deadlines).

I compared Q6600@3.4G and E8200@3.92G, it looks like 3.92G can maximize the most GPU usage.

ATI HD3850-512@750/1050 MHz running on AMD A64 X2 5600+@3200 MHz (1Mb cache per core) - 70-72% GPU load. With 2 clients running on that GPU - GPU load is 99+%, and CPU load is about 85%. My opinion is that X2 at 2.8 GHz can load about 50% of my OC 3850 or 3870 on standard clocks.
This monday or tuesday I will get 3870 and check it on Intel Core 2 E8400@4050 MHz. Hope it will load GPU 100% with just one CPU thread.

Don't get too hung up on the current performance of this very EARLY beta client.

As Stanford gets feedback from these very small test WUs, they'll make improvements. And larger WUs that we all know are coming eventually will also change performance.

As long as any conclusions you draw here are considered preliminary and fluid, then they can be helpful, just not final. ;)

7im, thank you for the info, but i wish this post to be somewhat starting point in the series of benchmarking the new beta GPU client and be useful to anyone as it contains basic parameters of it's work :idea:
