NVIDIA GPU2 PPD Thread [Preliminary Results]

Postby ricanflow » Tue Jun 17, 2008 7:51 pm

Post details about your system config and ppd here.

Include system config, project number, and average ppd.

Include the specs of the CPU feeding the client as well, as the GPU2 client performance is somewhat related to CPU speed. Including the OS wouldn't hurt either.

I also added the [Preliminary] to the thread title as this is still VERY early in the development process, and PPD IS going to change, probably many times.

EDIT Wed Jul 02, 2008 to add legoman666's chart.

Those are worth 98 points (I can't post links, yet)

I get 706 PPD

EDIT: To estimate your PPD for this unit, 1 min/frame is about 1400 PPD. So 0:30 min/frame is 2800 PPD, etc.

AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ overclocked to 3.2GHz, Mushkin DDR2-800 2x2GB sticks at 5-5-5-18, 8800GTX overclocked to 650MHz core, 1566MHz shader domain, 1100MHz memory (2200MHz DDR), Gigabyte MA790FX-DS5, Vista Home Premium 64bit, 177.35 drivers (.inf modded to accept older cards than GT200) nets a 4980.71 PPD estimate in FahMonitor 2.3.2b on both the 5001 and 5002 WUs.

Both the 5001 and 5002 units are worth 98 points according to FahMon, I haven't seen any others yet.

8800GTS 512 805/1950/1080 177.35 Drivers
E8400 @ 3.82GHz
Vista 32

14.5 seconds per percent completed, 5838 PPD. Wow.
Note that this is without running a CPU client...if you are, your GPU PPD will be lower, but your overall CPU+GPU PPD should be higher.

Q6600 OC'd to 3.2Ghz
2GB DDR2 8500
Gigabyte GA-X38-DQ6
XP 32 bit
Evga 8800GT SC

Project: 5002 (Run 9, Clone 21, Gen 0)
Start: [19:43:36] Completed 1%
Finish: [20:14:34] Completed 100%
PPD: 4456

Also running 1 SMP @ 1729PPD on the 3 available cores.

Not too shabby, hope the WU servers don't meltdown in the next couple days because of the quickness of the Wu's.

I think that is about 2800 PPD.

I think it would be helpful if people posted GPU clocks. I'm curious how performance will scale.

However, it's very strange - usually it shows about 350 itrations per second, but sometimes it goes up fast and reaches about 2600 it/sec.

FAHMon tells about 4233.6 PPD)

As I already said before, the viewer eats from 20 to 90% of the GPU to display the nice molecule ... never trust any graphical estimation.

To get the real power of your board, keep the viewer closed, and look at the FAHlog.txt file to get the time you need to process a % ... (you can also use FAHmon that will automatically extract the time per % and the PPD).
