Well it looks as if nvidia has posted the CUDA driver download with the 177.35 driver. Still doesn't work for my 9800GTX though :(

Leoslocks wrote:The only way I could find the 177.35 drivers at nVidia was to select the GeForce 200 series.

After the failed install of 177.35, copying the modified inf file to the NVIDIA folder prompted a warning for over writing the inf file. The previous two failed attempts at installing nVidia drivers and modified inf file did not ask about over writing the inf file. ??

The PPD is worth the trial.

If you downloaded the right .inf file, you should get a message asking you to replace the old .inf file. You have to replace it! (I edited my original post to make it clearer)

Ive just made a similar topic, didnt see this one sadly. Either way I thought Id say in here that mine worked perfectly on Vista 64bit with my 9800GTX. Vista did complain
that the driver was unsigned but thats expected as its been edited. ppd is awsome, currently at 6048 & avg frame time is 14s.

I had the same 32 bit error and realized it was aflaw in the way the Guru3D site is laid out.

When downloading the .inf from the Guru3D site, note that the link to the proper OS version of the .inf file is ABOVE the name of the OS and not below it (as it shoudld be IMHO). Click on the link ABOVE the name of the OS and you'll be golden!

It is indeed a bit confusing, one thing is sure a nv4 file is for xp and a nv file is for vista

Rapidshare doesn't seem to respond. Is there an alternative location for the 177.35-driver out there?
Thx in advance.

This worked fine for me with my 8800GTX.

Do we know if this method can be used with G80-based Quadros as well? I've got an FX570 in my laptop I'd like to try it on. . .

get the driver from nvidias web stie below

get one of these Run the installer click next so it unpacks the files to c:\nvidia\ and then close the setup
http://www.nvidia.co.uk/object/winxp_177.35_whql_uk.htm
http://www.nvidia.co.uk/object/winxp64_ ... ql_uk.html
http://www.nvidia.co.uk/object/winvista ... ql_uk.html

then get the rared up ini pack below (23kb :) just put the right ini in the c:\nvidia folder, It must replace the nv ini file if it does not ask to replace you done some thing not right)

you need is if your not got $$$ to spend on an 260 or 280 (it alow you to use the upto date driver on 8600 or higher if you use the below)
http://www.information-database.com/folding/nvidia_modded_inf.rar

vista 64

http://www.nvidia.co.uk/object/winvista ... ql_uk.html vista x64 177.35
warning useing this driver with the ini mod above you must start the pc up with the driver sig disabled, windows Vista 64 only will not let you install it or let you boot up with it once this is installed with the item below if disable sig option not used (press F8 to get the windows boot menu) only an temp fix untill Nvidia bring WHQL drivers out for cards below 260GTX

Just wanted to add my two cents and share that this fix did work for my card. =)

NVIDIA 8800GTS (640MB)
Running around 82C on the core with Fan Speed at 60% (According to GPU-Z)
Work level fluctuates between 1700 and 2200 iterations per second.

I set it to run last night and upon checking it this morning my screen had been totally shot, with graphic artefacts filling the entire monitor. After a reboot things were back to normal and I left for work. I've been unable to check it yet but I'm wondering if anyone has anything to report on being able to run this for hours on end. My guess is that it may not be too stable for long periods yet, but I'm hoping it's not a heat related issue either.

All part of beta testing, of course. Looks promising so far. =)

The fact that you were monitoring iterations/sec indicates you probably were using the Display option. This doesn't work right and causes lockups in this beta version. I've avoided the Display option and I've been running for 24 hours now (since I first got it running).

Trying to follw the instructions to get my 8800GTS working but the download link from Guru3D is broken :(

Can anyone point me to where I can get the modded inf file for Vista x64?

TIA!

I believe this is the error I made. I am a bit dyslexic so these kind of issues do not trouble me. Now I have caught the nVidia Folding Virus.

This is along side an SMP client on a Q9450. Depending on the SMP client draw, I am getting 6200 to 7K+ PPD.

Hello,

Have any one of you achieved success using this workaround with XP 64-bit? I've, personally, had no luck and am currently using the 175.80 beta drivers with some success. The 177 release gives me an error to the effect of, "these drivers are not compatible with Windows XP" upon selecting my card (an 8800GTS) via the modded .INF. I've checked and re-checked both the drivers themselves as well as the .INF file to ensure they're for XP 64-bit. I've also tried copying & pasting the couple of entries related specifically to my video card directly into the stock .INF; still no go.

Any ideas?

Thanks.
