That's the best place to find out what can be done today.

The second answer is that there is probably something to hope for in the future. Stanford has announced plans to provide an OpenCL client. ATI has announced plans to support OpenCL. OpenCL is supposed to run on a variety of OSs. Put those things together and it's reasonable to assume that there will be a Linux client for ATI -- but I have not seen an official announcement and I certainly don't have any idea when all those things might mature sufficiently to create something that can to do real scientific work.

. . . but we can dream, can't we?
