Been running FAH for some time. Yesterday I received the error message listed in the subject line.

The last portion of the log file is as follows:

Hmm. That's quite mysterious. I did do some quick research and looked up the error code. On the F@h wiki, I found this: http://fahwiki.net/index.php/CoreStatus_codes#63 There's some information there which may or may not be relevant, but I think its either a permissions problem or a .NET problem. Based on that information, I'd first recommend going to Control Panel and checking to see if .NET is installed, as that is needed for the SMP client. If it isn't, you will need to get it although I thought the SMP installs .NET automatically if it isn't already there, but I could be wrong about that. The second thing you could try is run the SMP as an administrator. That's my ideas based on that page.

If you have been running fah for some time, then you already have everything you need to keep running fah.

For example, Windows Vista and Windows 7 come with .NET, so you don't have to install or update .NET to get FAH to run.

Also, since you posted in the Uniprocessor section, it would be bad to follow any advice given regarding an SMP client, unless, or course, you posted in the wrong forum section. ;)

Before going any further down a potentially wrong turn, please post more of your fahlog, starting with first 50 lines where the client starts up, with the "##########"

[19:51:57] Version CoreStatus = 63 (99) is an error where the fah client cannot start up for one reason or another.

The very next line in the log seems to agree.
[19:52:05] + Error starting Folding@home core.

Without more details, like more log file to see the client type, settings, install location, flags, and the work unit info, and your hardware config, and OS, etc, I can only guess... Your client download an a4 work unit that is supposed to work on both single and multi core systems. It may be this work unit slipped out not being able to run on a single core systems due to a settings problem when the WUs were created.

With more info, we can make a better diagnosis.
