Ver.6.23 Build November 2008 Client Questions.

Postby Spud1200 » Sun Jul 22, 2012 7:05 am

I'm running this Build on the Laptop at least 5 days a week. With an average of 200 - 450PPD to give you an Idea of how the Client is proforming. I have a Duel Core but do not have the -SMP Command enabled, I have tried but the Client quits it self and closes down under the Configuration, Advanced settings. Would you recomend anyone useing the Beta Ver. from the high proformence downloads Via the f@h site to yeald more WU's and thus a better overall efficiency from the Laptop?

Yes you need to upgrade to the latest version of F@H which is v7 also you need to get a Passkey# if you do not have 1 so you can qualify for the bonus points with smp. You can get v7 here http://folding.stanford.edu/English/HomePage you can get a passkey here http://folding.stanford.edu/English/FAQ-passkey

I've just Downloaded the Console Client of the f@h application from the high proformence downloads section on the Stanford web site. I'm averageing just over 500+ PPD with a CPU usage of at least 80%. Now I enterd my foling pass key and team number and ID, but in the way of Bonus PPD I've never recived any I dont think. Not sure why but just never been mentioned. I also run the GPU and same SMP Client on a Desktop in the area of the systems I have in my flat and on that michine I also have the pass key eneterd al;ong with the HFM.NET Client running for monotoring. Should I be reciveing Bonus PPD?

You only receive bonus points after a number (10 I think) of completed work units with the bonus. You also need to return at least 80% of work units successfully to qualify for bonus points.

The bonus will start automatically. All you have to do is keep folding. ;)

Unfortunately the passkey faq doesn't mention the 10 initial work unit requirement. You'll need to complete 10 smp(cores a3, a4 or a5) WUs successfully while using your passkey(i.e. work done before you started using the passkey doesn't count towards bonus qualification) and maintain an 80% success rate to qualify for the bonus. At this time the GPU projects do not qualify for the Quick Return Bonus.

I'm curious, why did you download the console client from the High Performance page? If you are running Windows, the latest software is on the main homepage. You can configure it to do uniprocessor, SMP, GPU, a combination, whatever you want.

The details bollix47 adds are listed on the Points FAQ, http://folding.stanford.edu/English/FAQ-PointsNew. They also announced an additional 10% bonus for processing core A4 WU's starting Monday, July 23, in the Folding blog - http://folding.typepad.com/news/2012/07 ... oject.html.

Thats excelent, I've been folding for a while now, but just leave the michines up 24\7. The Laptop, & Desktop. Every few days, mabie once or twice a week, I'll shut down the Systems for a few hours just to let them cool off being a Laptop more than anything.

I'm curious, why did you download the console client from the High Performance page? If you are running Windows, the latest software is on the main homepage. You can configure it to do uniprocessor, SMP, GPU, a combination, whatever you want.

The reason was, IE was causeing problems with the Download from the f@h Stanford site, and for some reason it was being rejected when selecting Save. I mite try Firefox, if that does'nt work, mabie Crome or Opera. I went to the Download section as did not realize you could Download Ver. 7 from the main page. Just thought it was a case of haveing to use the high proformence clients.

To be quite honest, I think if I did not shut down the systems every few Days, they would probily blow clean up  just to let them cool down. I have a Laptop cooler wich is excelent for keeping the Laptop nice and chilled, :?: but while I'm here if its ok I wanted to ask, disrtibuted computing from my understanding is a verry powerfull way to be able to utilize the power of " X " amount of Systems Globally, why is F@H not more recodnized for even for the simple fact its a 21st Centry way of fighting desease and illness. Out of, and this dosent really matter 1643891 users I think connected to the prject this just does not seem to be many in comparason to over 7 Billion people on the Planet. I understand its a case of Donation, but just over One and a Half Million People doesnt seem much. :e?:
