Postby pc-lost » Mon Jan 21, 2008 11:39 am

Hi,

Is it possible to transfer W/U's from one O/S to another?, they're both Linux O/S'es, just the one on this particular box i don't like, any advice (step-by-step)is appreciated.

That is one HOWTO dealing with the issue (http://fahwiki.net/index.php/The_finstall_script#Upgrading_existing_FAH_clients_to_.22finstall_format.22):
**On first computer**
Code: Select all
cd WHERE_IS_THE_FAH_NOW
tar czf my_fah.tgz .

Copy the my_fah.tgz file over to your second computer (to selected user home directory).

**On second computer**
Code: Select all
mkdir ~/foldingathome
mkdir ~/foldingathome/CPU1
cd ~/foldingathome/CPU1
tar xzf  ~/my_fah.tgz
curl -O http://ra.vendomar.ee/~ivo/finstall
chmod +x ./finstall
./finstall

Similarly.

Code: Select all
cd /path/to/folding
tar cvzf folding.tgz ../folding/
mv folding.tgz /my/backup/medium

On new system.

Code: Select all
cd /my/backup/medium
mv folding.tgz /path/to
tar xvzf folding.tgz
