ATI RADEON 3100 (integrated card)

Postby KenshinPT » Wed Feb 22, 2012 5:51 pm

Hey mates! How're you doing today?

Is it possible to fold on a ATI RADEON 3100 Integrated Card?

It should work, but this is a very low end GPU that is probably not worth bothering to run the client on :?

It only has 40 cores, so it will only run half as fast as the GPUs in E-350 and E-450 chips, and 1/10th as fast as the GPUs in most Llano chips. Not to kill your hopes, but it might not even finish a WU before the deadline....

The Mobility 3650 in my Lenovo T500 barely made deadline when I could get it to work, so I suspect the 3100 will not consistently make them.

Thanks for the tips :)

I am already folding on a AMD triple core but the GPU is a integrated ATI :(

So, is there any cheap GPU card with great folding performance... when I say "cheap" I mean up to 30~50 Euros :D

Thanks

That's definitely cheap! You are gonna be looking at Nvidia at this point, so probably a GT 430 would do you best. There is an Asus one on Newegg for $47 right now, (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814121397), so you will probably be able to find some on sale that are in your price range. This card has 96 (Nvidia) cores and 270 GFLOPS of performance, so it won't be a 'star performer' or anything, but it will definitely let you fold. :)

Thanks :)

This card will help the 3 CPU AMD cores :)

I sold my 5770 for 50€ to a friend two month ago ... you should be able to find something similar (ATI or nVidia) ;)
