How to get GTX260 and two 8800GT's running together?

Postby iandroo888 » Thu Nov 19, 2009 10:12 pm

i got a hold of two 8800gt's 512mb g92 and i want to fold on them in my main rig which has a 780i FTW and q9650. i got the new drivers from nvidia. using dummy plugs and extended the desktop. each are using the new core 11 but the two 8800gt's show me "unstable machine". at first i had problems saying it was not a supported GPU. i added the "-gpu X" to the target of each shortcut i made. [i made 3 copies of the gpu folding folder] so X is 0, 1, and 2.

any ideas whats up?

It's not possible to mix the GTX series with the 8xxx/9xxx series. I tried this in a thousand different configurations a while back and could never get it to work, it would always lead to unstable machine errors.

It is possible. You just need the latest versions of the cores :

Fahcore 14 : viewtopic.php?f=52&t=11972

They will work together using new drivers and new cores. 9800Gx2 with GTX 260 runs fine, so does 9800Gx2 with 9600 GSO. GTX260 runs with 9600gso with no problem.
Once installed make sure to extend desktop and reload drivers.

Phenom II 805 K9A2 platinum 1x 9800Gx2, 1x GTX275

My widest mix while testing the cores was GTX260/216, 8800 GTS 512, and an 8800 GT, in Vista. Dummy plugs and extending desktop to all 3, and they folded fine.
Proud to crash my machines as a Beta Tester!
