We already have a version 1.31 of FahCore_11.exe. Is this FahCore_14.exe or ?

"Core_11.fah"

Should be FahCore_11.exe (and we already had a v1.31)

Houston, we have a problem.

It SHOULD download automatically but if others are getting an error, wait until the problem is fixed.

Are you trying to download the client manually? When the client downloads a new version of the core, it is downloaded as Core_xx.fah and then FahCore_xx.exe is extracted (unzipped).

This version is being published so that the client can download the core for you without any manual intervention. Under normal circumstances, you may be assigned a WU requires V1.31 and then the download will happen automatically.

If you don't already have v1.31 from another location, you can force an update by rename the current version whenever the core is not in use (e.g.- if you're working on a WU that uses FahCore_14). Then the client should download the latest version when you get a new assignment. In either case, this process is expected to happen between WUs, so the change in checkpoint logic should never be a problem. (Do not stop the current WU to force the update.)

From above:

[00:34:17] + Downloading new core: FahCore_11.exe
[00:34:17] Downloading core (/~pande/Win32/x86/NVIDIA/G80/Core_11.fah from http://www.stanford.edu)

It appears that the automatic download process is not working since the download file name is "Core_11.fah", and not the normal FahCore_11.exe .

If you check the automatic download location from the log: http://www.stanford.edu/~pande/Win32/x86/NVIDIA/G80/
You'll notice that all of the cores their are named Core and not FahCore. I presume someone just made a mistake in publishing the files in the directory.

The contents of http://www.stanford.edu/~pande/Win32/x86/NVIDIA/G80/ is:
Core_11.fah 08-Dec-2009 12:22 1.8M
Core_11.fah_v119 08-Dec-2009 12:22 627K
Core_13.fah 31-Oct-2008 10:39 628K
Core_14.fah 26-Oct-2009 12:20 553K
Core_14.fah_v125 24-Mar-2009 14:19 553K

Presumably forwarding this information to "Those Who Can FIx These Things" will get this fixed very quickly.

I haven't tried this personally, since I saw the error posted here and instead did it manually using a v1_31 core from the previous location for manual download prior to mainstream release (where the file is named "FahCore_11.exe ").

There were reports that if you had two different GPUs with different numbers of shaders, that performance was significantly reduced on one GPU. There were also cases where two different generations of GPUs would not both fold. Both were reportedly fixed.

I just checked (binary comparison), and Core_11.fah in http://www.stanford.edu/~pande/Win32/x86/NVIDIA/G80/ is identical to the version distributed before the mainstream release. So I guess if they change the filename to "FahCore_11.exe" that the automatic process should work.

For those that don't want to wait, you can download http://www.stanford.edu/~pande/Win32/x86/NVIDIA/G80/Core_11.fah manually and then rename the file to "FahCore_11.exe".

Hmmm reading your post closer.... Mayvbe the problem os that they posted the files without zipping them first, since the posted file is binary identical to the uncompressed FahCore_11.exe I got. The file size is quick way to check if this is compressed or not (It's not).
Uncompressed is 1,864 KB.
Compressed (Zip) is 688 KB.

That would make more a bit more sense, because I was wondering how the client would attmept to download a file with a different file name.

Note that when this is fixed, the manual method I mentioned above won't work anymore since the file will be compressed, in which case you'd need to uncpmpress it and probably rename it to update manually.

I've passed along the info. We'll revert back to the old core until this is fixed. It's 9pm pacific time, so this will unfortunately have to wait for the fix until first thing tomorrow, eg ~9am.

Tried renmaing the file to .exe and then run a fresh client with no luck. It is not a simple file misnaming issue.

This is what the download shows in my log file (note the red text, seems to be a problem with the file during download).
