Error starting Folding@Home core on EVGA 465

Postby Steve6548 » Mon Aug 29, 2011 11:30 pm

I upgraded the video card on my system from EVGA GTX 260 to EVGA 465 and now GPU client give Error starting Folding@Home core. I uninstall and reinstalled the GPU client Ver 6.23 and I still get this error. The NVidia graphic driver is ver 270.61. I have not updated the video driver at this time. My system is running windows xp 32bit with SP3. I had no problems with the GPU client until I install EVGA GTX 465 card. Also I do not think the EVGA GTX 465 card is a Fermi card. Any help on this issue will be appreciated.

Welcome to, Steve6548

NVidia's 2xx series is non-Fermi and their 4xx series is Fermi. Replacing one with the other means installing the right drivers, making sure that FAH is no longer trying to work on a previous WU (which is incompatible with the new hardware), and discarding the old FAHCore that only works on the previous hardware. The uninstall/reinstall process replaces FAH's client code but generally does not discard the current settings or the current WU.
