switching to Aero on Vista reduces lag

Postby dll11 » Fri May 15, 2009 2:11 am

I'm running version 6.23 of the GPU client on Vista x64 with GeForce 9600GSO, and found that switching the Windows theme from Vista Basic to Aero significantly reduced the lag I was having when scrolling and switching tabs in Firefox. The theme was set to Basic because my previous video card wasn't powerful enough for Aero. After the switch to Aero, there is still a lag, but now it's barely noticeable, instead of really annoying.

I hope this helps others who might be having the same issue.

How did FAH performance change ? Did it slow down a bit ?

I tried to turn off the Aero to see if I get a lag. It became unbearably slow- to call it lag would be a compliment. It acted like it was out of memory- all basic window redraws took 5-10 seconds. Performance hit or not, I'm back to Aero.

I'm not sure, because I didn't run FAH very long in Basic theme. It made the computer virtually unusable, and I had to turn FAH off until I found out that Aero reduced the lag. After the switch, I'm getting 3363.36 PPD on project 5905 (1888 credits) with shader clocked to 1700, which is no slower than other PPD numbers posted for 9600GSO at http://sites.google.com/site/techtdsn/f ... d-database.
