5GB allocated to the VM.

Just found out I had a couple of Virtual machine bios settings disabled, not sure if it will make any difference but turned them on.

CPU use for vmware-vmx.exe still the same however won't go over 80%

No, I switched to the Linuxforge image a few years ago along with most people. http://www.linuxforge.net/docs/crunching/fah-vmware.php
