Strange message in 6.34SMP client startup

Postby SpawnMaster » Sat Jul 23, 2011 7:12 am

Hi All,

I'm getting a strange message when starting the 6.34SMP console client. The error is as follows :-

4 cores detected
Unable to connect to 'SpawnMaster-PC:8676',
sock error: generic socket failure, error stack:
MPIDU_Sock_post_connect(1228): unable to connect to SpawnMaster-PC on port 8676,
exhausted all endpoints (errno -1)
MPIDU_Sock_post_connect(1275): unable to connect to SpawnMaster-PC on port 8676,
No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it. (er
rno 10061)

My stats are showing that I am only running 1 client/processor when I am in fact running 1 quad core CPU and 1 GPU client.
If onyone could help with this it would be much appreciated.

Thanks and regards

Welcome to the F@H Forum SpawnMaster,

I believe that it is a cosmetic error message (http://fahwiki.net/index.php/How_do_I_i ... #Message_1) which can be ignored.

Welcome to foldingforum.org, SpawnMaster.

Your stats do, indeed, show that your GPU client has not received a credit for quite some time. Perhaps it's not folding under the same account name. Perhaps it is getting some kind of error and not finishing any WUs. Please find FAHlog.txt for that client and post it here so we can see what is actually happening. The last credit that was credited to SpawnMaster was on 2011-05-31.

Thank you for you replies and answers. So it seems to be the GPU client that is misbehaving.

Here is an excert from the log file. The whole file was huge so here is just a section which I think should show you all you need to see.

Thanks and regards

There are quite a few gpu returns according to your EOC stats:

http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/ ... =&u=344299

And I think I can see a few smp returns as well.

Not sure I understand your problem but the log looks good from here. :ewink:

If you're concerned about the client count on your Stanford stats don't be. They've been wrong for some time now. :(

Mine shows:

Active clients (within 50 days) 36
Active clients (within 7 days) 21

I've never run more that 16 clients and currently running 12.

I'm just going by what Bruce has said in his comments above. According to him my GPU client has not received any credit since 2011-05-31. If that is in fact the case I would like to know why.

You did get credit for that GPU unit:

Hi SpawnMaster (team 97103),
Your WU (P6804 R1 C41 G63) was added to the stats database on 2011-07-24 00:05:30 for 1325 points of credit.

I'm not sure what you changed, but whatever it was worked.
