Is there a GUI smp client for Linux?

Postby pompeyrodney » Thu Jun 06, 2013 1:01 pm

I have a 64bit machine running Ubuntu 12.04 LTS on an Phenom X2 555. Upon this I run the V6 smp client in a terminal which I always find difficult to control as I can never remember the commands I need. If there were a GUI available like in WIndoze I think I would find it much easier. Please advise and thanks a lot.

The new V7 client, released more than a year ago, has a GUI option. See the Linux install guide on the fah web site. (Click "Install" on the toolbar at the top of this forum.)

Note that the GUI is optional. The FAHClient.exe component is a "back-end" service that downloads, processes, and uploads WUs in response to settings defined by the GUI component FAHControl.exe. Personally, I find the overhead added by FAHControl to be acceptably small, but some purists choose to avoid leaving it running when they're not actually using it. That's your choice. FAHClient.exe needs to stay running.
