I've found 270.61 driver runs pretty well on my m/c- Asrock Conroe 1333 PentiumDuo e6600, PCIe. on a GT240.
Having recently made the mistake of upgrading to the latest 285.58 driver and finding it causing errors via NV4_disp.dll, if I remember right
Crash minidump has been erased since -but this was clearly reported as a bug.
I ended up shuttling back to the old driver & o/s needed a few whacks first from the useful Nasty File Remover to offload redundant dlls.

Update Feb2012 : I returned to the 285.58 drivers OK since this report, benching ok and running @ 60C flat out.Folding at 5K ppd. max.

The new 295.73 drivers cause my GTX 560TI to go into a "downloading new core loop" although I still finishes the WUs, but error says thet "the server did not like results". After about 10 WUs, it tries to download a new core, then loops forever until it shuts down.
Users on other forums are reporting the exact same issues. The beta 290.53 drivers are not exhibiting this behavior, according to reports.
I am reverting to October drivers!

Why are you all ignoring the official recommendations? Do you really want to risk contaminating the results of every other folder?

MtM, well as you can see from my thread I went with the official recommendation. It caused issues with folding. So I'll do what Nvidia says, but it caused more problems than it solved so I rolled it back to what worked as per your recommendation. Simple as that, no?

Question was in general but ok: official guide line: if the whql driver does not work for you, wait until a driver is certified which does work for you. There been many problems caused by beta drivers, it's mentioned for a reason.

295.53 BETA drivers work just fine for me with F@H

295.73 WHQL drivers DO NOT work for F@H

295.73 WHQL drivers work for me when I disable the display power saving option in Windows that turn monitor off.

Because I'm running F@H on my gaming rig and need the latest drivers for gaming performance. The latest WHQL NVidia drivers improve the performance of at least one of my games, but I can't use them because the F@H client ends up sleeping the same time of day I do.

Your choice, sadly it's not possible to enforce the recommendations.

Can I ask you, what os you have, what exact hardware? Maybe some of the projects you completed recently with those drivers?

Same here. I just have to remember to physically turn off the monitor when I stop using that particular PC.

Not a perfect solution, but I want the most recent drivers on that PC for the times I'm gaming on it.

I also enjoy some dragon slaying occasionally. :-)
I am glad this new Nvidia issue is not as bad as the previous "downclocking" one.
