How do I install F@H to run behind multiple user accounts?

Postby smASHer88 » Fri Aug 12, 2011 8:45 am

Ok so basically I want to install Folding@Home so that it is running pretty much all of the time on the computer except for when it is switched off.

Is it possible to install it so it:
1. Runs on all user accounts? (even when multiple accounts are signed in at once (user-switching))
2. Runs when the computer sits on the initial login screen?
3. Runs on Mac OS X Lion fine?

I'm really keen to get folding again
Cheers

Why not just run Increase and then hide the app so you don't see it while its running?

You could also set up a dedicated folding user that when logged in will start folding (via a Login Item) and then Fast User Switch to your normal user. I do that at home where my admin is folding, but FUS to a non-admin account for everyone else to use.

The official fah6 installer should do what you want also. The user that runs the installer package will be the user that runs folding. Use the pref pane to start folding, and it will also run at boot, without anybody needing to login.
