Just got started with an RTX 6000 (!), 1M+ points/day

Post by garyo »

Just want to say hi! I'm just starting out folding with a new RTX 6000, quite a beast. I've made 3M points in a day and a half so far with 22 WUs.
I'm looking for a team to join; what are some good ones?

Welcome to Folding@Home!

Sadly, when I have mentioned what team I am on, the post gets deleted, so I don't thank F@H lets us make recommendations.

I do recommend that you get and use a Passkey.

Welcome! As noted above, with a passkey you'll be getting several million points per day.
With a passkey, you'll get a quick-return-bonus. You can check your bonus status here: https://apps.foldingathome.org/bonus

You can check the top list in the statistics if there are any teams that you want to help out on, but you could also start your own team to recruit your friends. If there are any clubs you're a member of, then starting your own team can help recruit people to folding for the fun of looking your numbers go up together. It's a nice social gamification thing to recruit more folders into the ..... fold.

Otherwise you can see in many people's signatures here which team they're on.

Cool, thanks! I checked my passkey status and it says I'm OK, 100% returns on my 24 WUs.
How do folks get the cool stats widget on the bottom of their posts here?

1- Wait for a few days of folding,
2- then head over to https://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/
3- Find your team and username over there; your username ID will be in the address bar, eg:
address is: https://folding.extremeoverclocking.com ... s=&u=32334
ID = the last numerical string at the end (32334 in this case, or whatever your ID will be)
4- Open a new tab to https://folding.extremeoverclocking.com ... hp?u=32334
Change the last numerical string with your own numerical ID.

Voila, you have a sig.

Alternate signatures can be found here (like a dark theme sig, or other):

And you can make a signature picture for your team before you get one for the individual. Details in the links above. Remember to enter the passkey into your client configuration - I'd expect you to have multiple million PPD then. Happy folding.

Here we try to be team neutral all teams that fold are good, people join teams for various reasons but you could look for one that matches your interests/location/has a social forum etc. Just be aware that although you can change teams when you like, points you earned while on that team do not transfer to another team (but remain yours individually) . You could also start your own team and invite others to join it .

Welcome to the F@H Forum garyo,

Please note that since you're using a laptop GPU, just make sure that your laptop has sufficient cooling since folding on the GPU can generate a decent amount of heat that some laptops might not be able to handle that.

Ha, not exactly a laptop GPU! https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/design-vis ... /rtx-6000/ -- 4k CUDA cores, 24GB RAM, 16TFLOPS, 300W.
I'm getting a solid 3.2M points/day.

I believe your sig appears only on the first post you make on each page. I'm seeing yours in your first post. Looking good! :D

3M is surprisingly low, considering it's benchmarked around a 2080Ti, which makes upwards of 4M PPD.
