Need setup help

I just got a brand new system, and was folding well, but the software was pushing my video cards too hard causing them to get very hot. The CPU was working fine and utilizing all six cores of my old processor. I had a major system malfunction, which caused me to have to ship the whole system back to the factory. They replaced the entire system, as well as a few upgrades while it was in the shop. I purposely upgraded the processor to accommodate higher performance for folding, as I feel this is a most worthwhile endeavor. I want to do what I can to help, but I sure don't want to break this new system by doing so.
At present, the FAH Local app shows the video cards working just fine, but it shows a yellow button (Inactive) state for the main CPU. I spent the money to use this thing, all of it. But I also want it to last a few years too. Here is what I have built into this thing......

As you can see, this thing was built to be a beast of a machine. So why is the FAH software only using it so lightly? The Windows resource monitor show it using just a few of the cores, and only to a limited level. The browser software doesn't even show as using the main CPU. I could use some help in anyone has the knowledge and the time to offer. I'd like to get started right, so this machine can do the work I bought it to do.

If you could post the first 100 or so lines of your log file that includes the system info and folding configuration as the client sees it, that would be useful. Directions on how to do so are found in the Welcome to the Forum topic.

Also, did you reinstall the F@H client after the changes made during the repair and upgrade? The client may be basing its usage on the prior hardware configuration if you did.

TY for the help. Yes, I did uninstall the software, and did a new install. It is ready the equipment for what it is, it just isn't utilizing it very much. I'll see if I can find that other information and post it back here asap.

I did manage to find the fan controls, and have the video cards running at around 74C, so they are safe it seems. I'll know more when they have run for a few days.

Okay, looking at the log file and the settings that show up there, the problem you are running into is that the CPU is a multiple of 7. Recently projects that could run at that setting of 14 ran out or were restricted from being assigned to that setting due to high error rates.

You can change the number of threads used by the CPU folding slot to 12 and start getting assignments. That would be done through editing the CPU slot in the Configure pane of FAHControl.

Hi Joe,
If you are able to see this, your advice worked like a charm. It took off like a rocket headed to Mars. I had to down tune my computer, as the load of 15 cores running full throttle built up some serious heat, seriously fast. Being something of a newb at overclocking, I found myself in strange territory meddling in the BIOS of my system. Till now, that was always the realm of professional technicians. But it came a time real fast that I had to "get my hands dirty" or lose the whole system.
Several crashes, lots more attempts at tuning, and I finally have all the little cores playing well together. They do tend to act like another group from my youth that sounds very similar, but they wear perfume too! LOL
Thanks again for the help. Let me know if you ever have need of a laser for a personal project. I have a pretty nice one, and I believe in tit for tat.

Stick to CPU counts that have factors 6 or less.
12 = 4 * 3 * 1 - good
14 = 7 * 2 * 1 - bad
15 = 5 * 3 * 1 - good
