GPU Not Folding

Post by Simted »

Hello, I'm new to Folding@Home and I've looked around a lot at why my GPU (GeForce 9500 GT) is not folding. I've updated the Driver and re-installed once or twice but it gets stuck on "Update Core"/ I attached the log just incase it's needed. (Also my home teampage doesn't seem to work (error 404, but the stats page does, Team 231048 -Conviviality) Thank you

Currently there are no projects old enough to run on your 9500 GT. The last WU's ran out earlier this year. The status of those projects is under review to make certain no more WU's are needed to be folded, once that is determined the older pre-Fermi nVidia cards will be removed from the supported list.

What about GeForce 310M (It is still in the list http://folding.stanford.edu/home/faq/fa ... mmon#ntoc6)

Ouch. Looks like that list is slightly out of date. The Requirements section the Install Guide is more up to date.

For NV, it is Kepler or higher. 4xx series and up.
For AMD, it is 5xxx series and up.
How to provide enough information to get helpful support

That also is a pre-Fermi card based on the Tesla architecture. Basically, to fold on a GPU now requires at least a Fermi or later based card. To meet deadlines, the lowest level Fermi and Kepler cards are also probably out as well. My best guess is that at least a GeForce 440 or better is needed to complete most current GPU projects within the preferred deadline.

At some point one of the volunteers who maintains that web page will update the minimum requirements, probably at about the same time as the older cards are officially deprecated.
