No full CPU utilization. Run as a service. Win10

Post by sergeyv »

Hi, I installed F@H client for windows 10 as a service.
I set "Folding power" to "Full", and "Folding Core Priority" to "Lowest possible", but maximum CPU utilization by F@H is about 50% even my PC is idle.

Is this perfomance limit for windows services?

Is this problem resolve, if I reinstall client with "automatically start at logon time" option?

Welcome to foldingforum.org, sergeyv.

No.

Do you have a supported GPU? If so, Microsoft won't let it fold in a service. Either way, FAH may allocate one CPU to support it (wrong, but I think that's what happens. Have you used the Advanced Control (aka FAHControl) program or WebControl?)

Also the service may start at boot time no matter which option you choose. If it doesn't we can fix that, too.

Post the first few pages of your log per the instructions below.

If this is the very first work unit after install, the client may be a victim of a still yet (3 plus years, Joe Coffland) to be fixed legacy installer bug where the first work unit only runs on a single CPU core.

Please let this first work unit finish, and then report the CPU usage on the second work unit. The usage should go up to 100% after that.
