Second GPU not visible to/used by F@H

Post by silentrift63 »

I've recently started folding, and all is well. But I decided to-reinstall my old video card in an open PCI slot in order to fold more. However it is a different brand than my current GPU.

F@H doesn't even seem to recognize there is a second GPU available, and I'm not sure how to have both be utilized (or ideally, have the NVIDIA be always-on, and the AMD be on-idle only)

My currently operating GPU is: AMD Radeon RX 480 GDDR5 8GB
The second GPU I want to use is: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660

I'm not sure if there's any information you need, thank you in advance for your assistance.

First question: Windows, Linux, or MacOS?

(Posting the top part of your log generally helps.)

I presume the GPU that was recognized has a monitor attached. Try restarting your system with the monitor attached to the new GPU. What happens?

Sorry I didn't include it! I'm running windows 7

I have two monitors, and as you requested I unplugged one from the first GPU and into the second. Both monitors are still working, and Dxdiag recognized that each monitor is operating off a different GPU; but it still seems that only the Radeon GPU is folding.

My log is as follows:

I'd go to http://www.geforce.com/drivers and manually install their recommended drivers -- assuming you haven't already done so. If necessary, you can do the same from http://support.amd.com/en-us/download but it sounds like Windows Update has already taken care of that.

For a long time, folding with GPUs from two different companies has been considered "impossible" and then it moved to "difficult" and I'm not sure of the latest adjective. You're running the released client V7.4.4 and there have been a few enhancements between it an the latest beta (currently V7.4.16) so if you still have trouble, you can upgrade to the beta client. I have not found anything broken in the beta client that wasn't also broken in the released version but there are sill some more improvements that need to be completed before it can be called "released."
