FahCore_a7.exe has stopped working

Post by Brownfox »

Hello

I've installed the client but it is failing to process any a7 work units. As soon as it tries to executes, it fails with the message FahCore_a7.exe has stopped working and repeats every few minutes until it gives up. It processes a4 units fine.

I've reinstalled but no change.

Section of the log follows.

Thanks for any help
Steve

Welcome to the folding support forum.

The error being shown is a Windows error being passed onto the folding client. Can you check the Windows logs to see what error is being reported at that time? That might point towards the cause of the folding core crashing.

Well, it seems that FahCore_a7 has started to work - it is now happily processing a workunit despite me not changing anything after failing regularly for several days. I'd still like to know why it stopped before and what to do if it happens again.

There were regular errors in the Windows application log before then e.g.

Code: Select all

It may or may not be relevant but the clocks went back from summer time (GMT+1) to winter time (GMT) this morning, and the next work unit processed after that started working.
Thank you

the BST change is not related.

There's a newer version of FAHCore_a7 that's going through the final stages of beta testing and perhaps being released. If it was and you received the update, that could explain what changed.
