Then, I could wait hours and it's stuck like that.
I choosed express method without changing anything. I tried a second time with a new directory (like D:\Folding) but same result.

What can I do?

I reinstall the nvidia drivers, remove/seup folding 10 times.

Thanks!

It says OpenCL is not detected. Has NVidia stopped distributing it with their drivers? CUDA isn't sufficient.

NVidia did announce that they were no longer going to support 32-bit drivers. Upgrade your OS to the 64-bit version, then download and install the drivers directly from NVidia.

Are you logged on to Windows as the same user that installed FAHClient?

Nice catch with OpenCL, I'll try it! It sounds strange because I have the lastest nVidia drivers.

I have a windows 64 bits, it's windows 10 enterprise. ;)

And yes, i'm logged with the same user (the on with admin privileges).

Thanks!

When I removed the nvidia drivers, Folding appears in the tray bar.

But, when I reinstall the lastest nvidia drivers, I check with GPU-Z and OpenCL is not enable. So Folding crashed like before. :(

I installed the october update of Win10 and, folding starts up (no gpu) but I can ran it on CPU.

Code: Select all

10:48:03:WU02:FS01:Starting
10:48:03:ERROR:WU02:FS01:Failed to start core: OpenCL device matching slot 1 not found, try setting 'opencl-index' manually
I'm thinking I need to reinstall win10 ;)

Grrr. This message is terribly misleading. The software already knows that OpenCL is not installed for slot 1 so changing the index value is a nonsensical recommendation.

I tried to changing slot but the error didn't change.

So, I reinstall Win10 (it cames from win7, 8 years ago!), and it's running well now :)

Thanks a lot for the "opencl missing" tip!

So you're saying that OpenCL did not get installed when you upgraded from Win7 but it did get installed when you reinstalled. Right?

No wonder it's an obscure problem. It sounds like the same problem reported here.

I think OpenCL was installed on Win7, then maybe win10 because Folding was working fine BUT, maybe it crashed since I installed the win10 october patch :D

But now, from scratch witn october patch, it's still working great :)

On Windows 7, NVidia distributed OpenCL with the drivers. Periodically, Microsoft distributes the same driver, but they do NOT include OpenCl and, in fact, they removed the one installed by NVidia.

I'm not sure whether Microsoft will ever solve this problem, but as far as I know, the solution has always been to replace the one Microsoft installed with one from NVidia that's >= the Microsoft version. (The version numbers have "." in different places, but contain the same sequence of numbers in the version number. Ignore the dots.

I have this same issue, but I'm not sure what the solution is. I don't consider reinstalling my operating system a viable solution.

I was folding fine for about a week. I then paused the folding, shut down, and installed some extra memory in the system. I powered up and that's when this problem began. Reinstalled folding@home several times, default settings, made sure all previous data was wiped out. Nothing worked. Did a clean install of latest Nvidia drivers as well. Not sure I see any straightforward way to install/reinstall OpenCL?

If the problem started when you installed new hardware (memory) there's a good chance that you won't find the problem is associated with software.

Nevertheless, missing OpenCL software WILL cause FAH GPUs to fail. If you look at the log Frakio posted at the begining of this topic, it says very clearly that OpenCL: Not detected

I agree. Do not install the OS, download the drivers (anddoctorlexus: Please post your log.)

Both of you, go to https://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx and install the drivers from there.
Your log should show a lot more information ... something like this
GPUs: 1
05:14:48: GPU 0: Bus:3 Slot:0 Func:0 NVIDIA:4 GM107 [GeForce GTX 750 Ti] 1306
05:14:48: CUDA Device 0: Platform:0 Device:0 Bus:4 Slot:0 Compute:5.2 Driver:9.0

As I said, it's the same problem the OP had. Open CL not found. And reinstalling Nvidia drivers did not solve it. I no longer have the logs as I removed the program from my computer.

You can download GPU-Z and check if it can detect OpenCL. If not try to download latest driver from nvidia.com and install it. Reboot and check GPU-Z again.

Before I reinstalled win10, GPU-Z showed an uncheckbox from OpenCL. I reinstalled / rebooted a lot of time with reinstalling the nvidia drivers but I didn't see any changes.
