Hello when i requested a passkey it asked me for my name i thought it wanted my Real name so i entered it .
i need my user name to match my login for my team i can't change it . can my username associated with my passkey be changed ?

Welcome to the folding support forum.

PG members do pop in here every so often, but I can give you the same answers they will. Points awarded to a username will not be changed to a different username. They will also not change points awarded to a team to another.

On the other hand, use the passkey you have received in your email with whatever username you want for your team. The username and email you used when getting the passkey is only used if you re-request the passkey. Matching usernames and email addresses will get the same passkey.

The Quick Return Bonus is tied to username and passkey pairs. Once you have completed 10 WU's, then you will receive the bonus points.

I Just wanted to change my username not passkey or Team , so you're telling me they wont ?
Im guessing i need to apply for a New passkey then ?

also please explain a work unit I'm very new , is it 1 project completed ?

You can use any username you want, you do not need a new passkey. You do not need someone from PG to change your username. Usernames are not registered, there is nothing to prevent one from being used by another person. Whatever username is used in the client when a WU is downloaded, processed, and returned id what will be recorded in the stats database.

The only place the username you used to get the passkey is recorded is in the database of assigned passkeys. Keep the email that was sent with the passkey. If you lose it, applying with the same username and email address used to get this one will get the same passkey sent to you. Without both, then you get a new passkey, that would need to be qualified before you would get bonus points.

As for what a WU is, it is a small part of one project. There are multiple Runs, essentially the same protein system with varying starting conditions. Within each Run there are Clones, those introduce some other variances. Each Project, Run and Clone is then sent out starting wth the Generation 0 WU. The WU is processed through a number of time steps, the amount will depend on how large or complex a system is. Once a WU of one Generation is returned, its end state is the starting state for next Generation. So Gen 0 needs to come back before Gen 1 can be created and sent out, and so on.
