That's unusual. I would suggest that you can try to uninstall (include the option to delete the data) and then re-install. Hopefully, that will resolve your issue. A fresh set of log files would be great too :)

Today the WU was finally gone and a new WU was assigned (Project 11747). Unfortunately, the GPU still doesn't fold but is marked as ready. The newest log file is as follows:

Can you connect your computer to the network via an alternative connection, like hotspot'ing it to your phone? Downloading Core_22 takes like 5 seconds where I am; it shouldn't stall out for hours.

The download continued until it showed 99.79 % at 09:24:25. After that, no additional message is given about that core. Connecting via Hotspot does not change that.

The exe file for the core is already there. Here is a result from "tree /f > tree.txt" in the core folder:

The Core_22 already there is the old version, 0.0.11. The download is for a new version, 0.0.13.

The file tree currently being used by the project is the second one.

I'm going to try a complete uninstall.

Edit: That did not help. It takes about 20 minutes to download http://cores.foldingathome.org/win/64bi ... ore_22.fah to 99.54 % and then the download stalls.

Now the core folder looks like this:

Code: Select all

C:.
└───cores.foldingathome.org
    └───win
        └───64bit-avx-256
            └───a7-0.0.19
                └───Core_a7.fah
                        FahCore_a7.exe
                        libfftw3f-3.dll
Edit 2: I was able to download the core manually. How can I install it?

Dont believe you can iirc .. the client doesn't just download it also does verification checks and some install stuff .. sure one of the mods posted proper (so not my vague recollection) details of this recently.

This is bad. But I have now seen that hung downloads seems to be a rather common problem. FYI I have just upgraded the GPU from a GTX 1050 Ti to a GTX 1660 Super (at least partially because the other GPU could not process the WUs fast enough).

I want to contribute here, but I certainly don't want to block WUs that are never processed. Is there anything else I can try?

You can try disabling any security software or firewalls that could be slowing the download or interfering with unpackaging. If you can bypass your router and connect your modem directly to the PC, that might help as well.

This is what the directory structure is with FahCore_22 version 0.0.11 and FahCore_22 version 0.0.13. Do note that the assigned WU would automatically download the correct version of FahCore_22 which would be 0.0.13 since all GPU Projects have been upgraded to that.

I know you excepted %APPDATA%\FAHClient from the virus control, but how about the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\FAHClient too?

Can you try to temporarily uninstall Kaspersky Antivirus and/or turn it off completely just to test? Is there heuristic checking that can be disabled? There might be something wrong with the program if it doesn't respect your wishes to download and run the core. There's been some isolated reports about it causing problems before: viewtopic.php?f=20&t=31276

I just turned off Kaspersky Antivirus completely, and there is no difference. The download itself works (but takes about 20 minutes on a 400M line), but when it should conclude, it stalls.

Have you tried rebooting router?
The download should not take 20 minutes.
You could also try a vpn and see if it makes a difference.

While you do have a lot of applications installed, these ones are a bit "off" to be as they are network related:
Turbo LAN v10.24 -> What exactly is it doing? LAN speed can't really be increased magically.
TP-Link PLC Utility -> If you're using Wi-Fi, have you considered a physical cable as a test
SpeedCommander 18 (x64) -> This is an alternate file explorer so can it be causing issues?
Smart Switch -> Are you running some kind of virtual switch that could be causing issues?
GOG.com Downloader version 3.6.0 -> Has been known to cause significant issues: viewtopic.php?f=61&t=34751

While not related, just an FYI:
Picasa 3 -> This has been deprecated for few years and can be uninstalled for security reasons.
Java 8 Update 261 -> Unless you really really need them, can be uninstalled as they can increase your attack surface.
CDBurnerXP -> You seem to have 32 and 64-bit versions installed, you just need one and if the feature set is identical, stick with 64-bit.
Adobe Flash Player 32 NPAPI -> Unless you really really need them, can be uninstalled as they can increase your attack surface.
