You join a team by entering the team ID number in your configuration, by clicking "Change Identity" in the web client, or in the Identity tab in the Advanced GUI for example. That's all Folding@Home cares about - it has nothing to do with any additional team websites, so if you want to engage with a team's forums or any additional bonuses, you have to ask on the team's website. Team recruiting is not allowed on this support forum.

You get the same amount of points on a team as not on a team, but they are shown differently.

Depending on where you look at your statistics points get shown both in total and per team. For example, on the official statistics site, it shows both as a grand total and broken down across various teams (where team 0 is no team). Example: https://stats.foldingathome.org/donor/1383803

The third-party ExtremeOverclocking statistics site shows things differently, but only shows individual donors on the most active teams: https://folding.extremeoverclocking.com ... l_list.php

PS: Also set up a passkey so you can get bonus points for quickly returning work units: https://apps.foldingathome.org/getpasskey

Thank you very much. This was very helpful. I was wondering if there is the danger of mining than you won't get any points, but I guess that shouldn't be the case, right?

Any Mining that you happen to be doing is not associated with FAH. Such activities are neither sponsored by or prohibited by FAH. FAH is a scientific research organization and we encourage anyone to DONATE resources to that research and earn FAH "points."

Various mining enterprises have elected to recognize FAH Points as proof-of-work and award cyber coins for that work. To establish whether you're earning coins or not you'll need to contact the organization that may be awarding the coins. The cyber-coin organization may or may not care of what FAH Team you're donating to.
