Configuring integrated GPU for folding (Laptop)

Hi all,
First post here.

I recently started folding and it was mainly with my dedicated GPU(GeForce GTX 1650 Mobile / Max-Q).
Everything is going smooth with it and I was wondering if I could also fold with my integrated GPU(Intel UHD Graphics 630).

I tried adding a new GPU slot in the configure window. But the Integrated GPU isn't detected. The status says disabled.

Is this the right way to add/configure the integrated GPU?
If not what are the steps to do so?

Thanks.

Intel GPU folding is only experimental at the moment. You have to specifically enable it, and there's not always work available for it. More info here: viewtopic.php?p=346637

Support questions for Intel GPUs go here: viewforum.php?f=111

Note that in a notebook computer, it is possible that folding on the CPU or Integrated GPU might cause more heat which causes the discrete GPU to throttle - so if you decide to fold on the iGPU, please monitor your temperatures and check that your overall PPD per system doesn't go down.

For about a decade now, many laptops with Nvidia graphics,, use either Nvidia for speed, or Intel for battery life but never both at once.

Nvidia calls this Optimus https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/te ... echnology/

so it may be either or.

Just as an information point my laptop (system 2 in sig block) has optimus ... folds on both nvidia gpu and intel igpu at same time no problems

As in Optimus Prime? Transformers, robots in disguise

I'll grab my jacket... :P

Intel GPU work also seems to be depleted at the the moment.

Some laptops have Optimus; Other computers have both an integrated GPU and a discrete GPU (mostly desktops). The former switch between the iGPU and the dGPU depending on the demand for graphics processing: You only use the Intel or AMD integrated GPU when power can be saved without sacrificing performance and switch to discrted graphics when running FAH or playing a game. (Optimus) The iGPU is adequate to display your browser and update your desktop but doesn't really keep up with heavier graphics.

Desktops have independent devices so it's possible to fold with the discrete GPU (AMD or nVidia) and fold another WU on the integrated device. In comparison, the integrated GPU is VERY slow for FAH. That's one reason the Intel iGPU is still experimental.
