Any information that I have regarding BOINC is from long, long ago but I'm not the least surprised that they have a better server status web page that FAH does. If you count the number of scientists(/researchers/ chemists/ physicists/ mathematicians,etc.) at FAH and at BOINC and divide by the numbers of Programmers(/Software Developers/etc.) I'm sure you'll find that BOINC is better supplied with the latter compared to the former. You may not agree, but I'd rather be spending my money supporting researchers rather than programmers -- although both are essential to the work being done.
Suppose some web-page designer had stolen a template from BOINC and adapted it to display information about FAH's servers, projects, and WUs. You'd have learned more and done it with less effort. How would that have changed what you did --- and how much would it have benefited the COVID research?

Since I am not doing the CPU work anymore because I don't know whether I will be getting any or not, I suppose that is one change.

Watch the forum announcements. New CPU projects coming to beta suggest that new projects will probablu be released soon thereafter.

My systems are experiencing this issue again now. All the Mac systems (CPU-only) are waiting between one and ... up to 10 hours now on the computer I am on right now. Generally, it seems that my systems are spending 25%-50% of actual time sitting idle recently.

FAHCore_a7 is being replaced with FAHCore_a8. Some problems have been detected with FAHCore_a8 on MacOS. Last week they disabled FAHCore_a8 on MacOS and I'm not up-to-date on the progress toward reinstating it. You may just be receiving assignments that run on FAHCore_a7. (Sorry, I've been off-line my information is not current.)

bruce is correct that there was a bug that would occur on macOS older than 10.9 and some server settings were changed to allow that. However, FahCore_a8 version 0.0.9 has resolved that issue and the supported macOS is 10.7 onwards. Once tested and verified, changes will be done on the Servers to allow macOS to fold FahCore_a8 WUs

Something seems misconfigured, Server stats is showing ~13K A8 jobs and 379K A7 jobs as of posting... with assign rates of 48/hr and 0/hr respectively. So CPU units are just not being assigned at all.

Even though the servers may have public wus ready to go those low assignment rates tend to mean the projects are on beta test only (no insider info just past experiential observation) ... I know there are projects coming through beta so hopefully this means they are close to public release.

In addition to what Neil-B posted, the WU available also includes the next gen which will be created once it is returned back to the Server. Thus, it makes it a bit tricky to understand the numbers. A group of CPU Projects were released to Beta few hours ago so once they have been tested, would be released to Full assuming no issues

Yeah I noticed that by hovering over the WU core type on the individual servers. A good chunk of the WUs were on servers that were assign only. But there were approx 10K public WUs for A7 IIRC on servers that should have been assigning. Unfortunately I didn't capture any of that. However it is possible that they were meant for advanced mode configs or for larger CPUs and thus quad cores like the one I use on my linux box wouldn't have been eligible (my main desktop a 3800X doesn't do CPU units).

FYI, client-type=advanced is no longer supported. Thus, after Beta, it is Full

I only have a CPU, and I've been noticing this problem for a week or so. It's been taking hours to get a new assignment. In the logs there's a lot of "no WUs available for this configuration" and some "server failed to assign WU". I shut it down last night as it was waiting for an assignment and after starting up this morning, the log said it couldn't find the address for the assignment server; I hope that means something is being rebooted and it will get going again when it tries again this afternoon.

I was able to connect via the browser to all the 4 AS thus, it seems that everything is functional now
Shortage of CPU WUs is being looked at and more work is in the pipeline!
