Core 17 Queue Empty?

Post by Kurtis200200 »

It looks like client-type advanced ran out of Core 17 work units sometime over 6 hours ago (I'm running 8054 atm).

People must have been really eager to try out the new build

client-type advanced does not guarantee Core_17. The Core_17 WU's have to compete with any other WU's that also fit your HW from the advanced pool of WU's.

Is the draw randomized or basic on weight-importance of the project, one factor of which being number of WUs left to solve?

The first two. Project managers can assign priorities to their WUs, so that when the servers randomly pick an available WU, there's more of a chance of choosing one with higher priority.

Indeed there's no way to guarantee getting a particular set of projects, it's just the luck of the draw. There's also a ton of people after these FahCore 17 projects, so from time to time (probably not this time though) there's not enough to go around. :)

At this point there is only one Core 17 project available at the Advanced stage and many people interested in running its WU's. So the WS has periodically been out of WU's to assign and the assignment server will attempt to assign other work appropriate for a system requesting it. You can see the single project by searching for ZETA in the Project Summary list, the link is available at the top of the forum page.

Looking at the Work Server logs from the Server Status page for this project, the WS last listed assigning 29 WU's at 3:40 PDT. Prior to that it had been able to assign more or less continuously for about 7 hours ending at 1:00. As those WU's are returned, they should generate the next WU in the series and more should be available eventually.
