My 650Ti won't fold!

Post by jakeby1 »

I'm currently running a 8 core, 3 Ghz mac pro that is folding very nicely for me. However, my GPU, not so much. I'm running the latest F@H client on OSX 10.8.4, and when in the client, my GPU slot tries to pull WU's from the server 0.0.0.0, consequently it just sits there saying 'ready' while its trying, and failing, to pull a work unit from a non-existant server, don't suppose any of you guys know where I'm going wrong!?! After all, I am a bit of a folding n00b :')

GPU folding is not supported on OS X. That is mentioned in a number of places including the OS X Installation Guide.

GPU folding support was recently added to Linux systems for nVidia GPU's only and was planned for OS X. But the developer ran into issues creating a folding core for OS X using the current OpenCL drivers available in OS X.

For the time being, just delete the GPU slot from the client. If/when GPU folding becomes supported on OS X there will be an announcement.

Can you point to where you read these contradictory statements? If they're official sources they need to be changed. If they're not, well, it'd be interesting to know where others got the idea that it was supported.
