Can't get WU {Maintenance}

Post by iraffbe »

Hello,

I use to fold a lot, then I stopped for some time, when wanting to start again I see F@H has made many updates, ect.
Got the V7 version runs correctly on 3 cores of my 4 core cpu.
When trying to run GPU, I get "Failed to get work assignment".
When doing some search, I see it is told to put advmethods, which I did, no change.

So I go old school, I try V6 version, V5, command versions, and I get this:
[04:28:53] + No appropriate work server was available; will try again in a bit.
[04:28:53] + Couldn't get work instructions.
[04:28:53] - Attempt #1 to get work failed, and no other work to do.
Waiting before retry.

I have nVIDIA Geforce GT 240 1GB, got 320.49 driver from nVIDIA.
Yes there is CUDA on this GC.

Not a firewall, antivirus, or internet issue.

I would be glad and grateful if someone could help me please, I tried for many hours to make this working, and searching over internet.

Maybe answer is simple, I can't fold anymore with this old card ?

Thanks in advance for support.

Regards,

Raf

I need more info. Could you please supply the full log including the system and config portions?

P.S. I could very well simply be that you caught the tail-end of the server maintenance that just occurred:

Hi iraffbe and welcome to the folding@home support forum.

Unfortunately the servers that carry work suitable for your GPU are still DOWN as a result of the move. The staff are working on this problem but until it's fixed there's really nothing you can do but be patient. Your log looks good so as soon as those servers are back up you should receive work. If you prefer not to see the constant attempts in your log you can right click on your GPU slot and select Pause, but you would have to check the Server Status (link at the top of every forum page) and look for the status of servers 171.67.108.11 and 171.67.108.21 to determine when to try again. Once the Connect column says Accepting and the Status Column says full you would again right click on the GPU slot and select Fold.

Oh so that's the only reason.

Well, that's great news, means I can still help with this GPU, thought it was outdated.

Thanks a lot for the info, hope they get alive soon.

Yes, your GPU can still contribute but we can't predict for how long.

Please have a look at the folding blog for information about core 11 which is the core your GPU would use:

Okay, well thanks a lot for your help, and the information concerning my GPU.
I got one year to get a good GPU, so it should be OK :-)

I will edit/post when I am able to get a new WU.

Cheers.
