the system lacked sufficient buffer space ... error Help

I've been folding for quite a while on my Windows Vista System using a GTX 750 Ti. I have started having problems whereby I get the following error messages in the FAH log:

08:22:47:WARNING:WU01:FS00:Failed to get assignment from 'assign-GPU.stanford.edu:80': Failed to connect to assign-GPU.stanford.edu:80: An operation on a socket could not be performed because the system lacked sufficient buffer space or because a queue was full.

When this error happens, I also seem to lose some network connectivity. I can ping out to web sites, but cannot connect to them. This system also runs Go To MY PC. I use this to access the Vista machine remotely when I'm away. When this error occurs, I am unable to connect to Go to MY PC on the Vista machine. When folding runs, Go To MY PC works fine. (Don't know if that's significant, but thought I'd throw it in).

This has happened three times over the past two months. Since I'm gone from home a lot, I don't get any folding done until I can have someone reboot the system for me. I'd like to get this fixed, but don't really know where to start. I'll leave the system running in it's error state in case someone thinks of additional diagnostics that I might run to gather additional info.

This is looking like an issue within the networking stack of the Vista OS, not the folding client. Have you rebooted the PC?

I did reboot the system when the problem popped up before and everything resumed normally following the reboot. Then after 4-8 days the problem re-occurs. I also thought that the problem sounded like something wrong with the networking stack. But I'm at a loss as to what might be the root cause of the problem. I haven't rebooted following this most recent failure in case there are additional diagnostics that might provide more info. I'm also doing some google research but haven't found anything yet.

They should be easy fixes to apply if that really is the problem (it's difficult to tell, but judging by your system information from the top of the log you DO have 3GB RAM).

Thanks uncle_fungus. I'm looking at the article now. There are some wrinkles for Vista. It uses bcdedit to modify the parameters instead of storing values in boot.ini. I displayed the current values and it doesn't look like the /3gb switch is set. So my problem is probably related to running out of ports. I'll look at that part next.
