GTX 780 droppoing from 200k PPD to 3k PPD?!

If you think it might be a driver problem, see viewforum.php?f=79

GTX 780 droppoing from 200k PPD to 3k PPD?!

Post by jacob42 »

It seems to drop down to 3k when it gets a new WU. I keep saying, "Oh, must be a bad WU," so I dump it, just to find 3k again! Why is it doing this? I have the latest driver.

Edit: Just put advanced client mode on and forced a new WU. Nothing. :/

Someone please help! I'm getting 300 PPD WUs now! How can I get good ones that allow me to actually utilize my GPU to its full potential?

And now it's back up to 200k PPD. I am so lost...

Welcome to folding support forum.

You need to leave a WU running for at least several percent, especially if your folding client has not processed a WU from that project before. Otherwise the client does not have enough data to make an accurate estimate of TPF or PPD.

Otherwise, with a nvidia card the latest driver you should be using for folding is version 373. All of the version 375 and 376 drivers that nVidia has released since have a bad implementation of OpenCL that does not work with the GPU Core_21. That has been posted here and in the blog.

Also, you should post the beginning section of your log and thection of the log that shows the problem WU. Directions are part of the Welcome topic.
