Loss of GPU config of GTX750 Ti

If you think it might be a driver problem, see viewforum.php?f=79

Loss of GPU config of GTX750 Ti

Post by new08 »

I've been folding ok on this card for a few weeks running at around 100k ppd.
I took the Slot out whilst updating driver/reboot but on return I can't reinsert the GPU for work.
This worked ok a few times before, when testing earlier, but now stalls- putting another CPU slot in instead, which is annoying as a backlog of CPU work has built up now. It doesn't offer a GPU slot to save.
The GPU is in the Whitelist and worked well till now.
I reverted the driver back to the earlier [working] one- to no effect.
Can't figure what's changed.
No log- as GPU isn't starting up

AFTER installing the new driver, check if OpenCL is present and install it if necessary. Then reinstall FAHClient. FAH should configure the slot automatically during installation if the drivers are working.

I tried that but still the same. The setup log showed GPU present.
Maybe I need to completely remove FAH Client & then reinstall?
This would probably lose current work.
I ran GPU Shark shader utility and it showed 200fps & the GPU temp rose to normal working too.

Win10 Seems to be stable and is up to date.
I'm thinking of just removing both CPU cores from client when current work is done- and seeing if that does the trick on re-instating along with the GPU, whicxh is otherwise fine.
Client for CPU seems to be stuck on 'Core 2' only, one running 2- and the other 1 of the 4 cores, but the logic escapes me on the config tbh!

Post the top couple of pages of the log and point out the problem.

The only bit about GPU is above- but I will get back with the CPU output.
Have recall how to curtail the text..

I resolved the problem by clean uninstalling the 7.5.1 Client using IO Bit utility and reinstalled/configured ok and back in business.
I doubt there is much in the log to pinpoint the cause of the slot configure glitch.
The config file isn't viewable in text now, so no help there & it will have changed.

That looks normal -apart from an additional new Extra Client option open-web-control =true.
This is now the ok install, though.

I happened to catch a post that could have helped here, explaining how the GPU isn't recognised on reboot and inserting it manually as an extra client forces the issue.

FROM:Joe_H
Site Admin
There is a known problem where the client gets started and configured before detecting the GPU and its driver.
That creates the <gpu v='false'/> entry in the configuration and the client does not download and install the GPUs.txt file.

To fix this, open FAHControl and use its Configure control. On the Expert tab add an Extra Client Option, name would be gpu with the value true. Save the changed configuration and restart your system. When restarted the client should now download an updated GPUs.txt file, at worst you might need to do that manually and place it in /var/lib/fahclient.
