OpenCL errors

Post by Ablomeke »

I started by getting the following errors in my GPU log:

Code: Select all

17:55:50:ERROR:WU01:FS01:Failed to start core: OpenCL device matching slot 1 not found, try setting 'opencl-index' manually
17:55:50:ERROR:WU01:FS01:Failed to start core: OpenCL device matching slot 1 not found, try setting 'opencl-index' manually
17:56:50:ERROR:WU01:FS01:Failed to start core: OpenCL device matching slot 1 not found, try setting 'opencl-index' manually
17:58:28:ERROR:WU01:FS01:Failed to start core: OpenCL device matching slot 1 not found, try setting 'opencl-index' manually
18:01:05:ERROR:WU01:FS01:Failed to start core: OpenCL device matching slot 1 not found, try setting 'opencl-index' manually
Did a little bit of digging, tried altering -opencl-index to zero, 1, and 2, then back to -1, and it gives me other errors:

Code: Select all

18:06:10:ERROR:WU01:FS01:Failed to start core: Option 'opencl-index' has no default and is not set.
18:06:10:ERROR:WU01:FS01:Failed to start core: Option 'opencl-index' has no default and is not set.
18:07:10:ERROR:WU01:FS01:Failed to start core: Option 'opencl-index' has no default and is not set.
18:08:47:ERROR:WU01:FS01:Failed to start core: Option 'opencl-index' has no default and is not set.
I will note that I have recently replaced my GPU moving from an ATI -> NVidia, but looking at my history and my memory of the timeline on things, I believe that it did fold successfully on the new GPU at least for a few days.

When you removed the AMD card and replaced it with the one from nVidia did you reinstall the folding client software? That is the recommended method for making a major hardware change like this. You would finish any current WU's, uninstall the client along with the data files, and then reinstall. Saving a copy of the config.xml file would provide you a source to copy and paste information to setup the client with your username, team and passkey.

You may also need to run driver cleaner software to make certain all components of the AMD drivers have been removed.

If you had pasted the top couple of pages from FAH's log, we could see if FAHClient detects ANY GPUs with the proper drivers. When you download the drivers from NVidia, you'll get a complete set. If you obtained the drivers from another source, things like CUDA might not be included. We would also know if you're running LInux or Windows. (See below)

Reinstalled to no avail. Here's the complete log:

When you re-installed there was an option to delete the data. If you take it, the old config is deleted, so it can build a new config. Something in the old config is hiding your GPU.

The segment quoted by JimboPalmer looks like an Intel QPU is being detected, not one supported by FAH -- which would have to be nVidia or AMD/ATI. I suggest you remove the drivers for the embedded GPU and install the ones for a supported discrete GPU.

Yes it is a driver issue where OpenCL is missing. You need to download the driver from nvidia.com and install it again.
