Fahcore core22-0.0.13 and amd xfx 8gb 580

Post by gs60 »

Hello,

Got a nice surprise this morning when I picked up a core22-0.0.13 core not in beta on project 14484. Almost every gpu project on my 580 has been around 125k points. Quite surprised to see one pop up at 190k points. Haven't seen anything near that range before this morning. This is also my first run of this core, so it will be interesting to see what's in store going forward. Now it could also be that this is my first wu from project 14484 and it may well be more suited to my gpu. Still pretty cool though.

Update: Upon further review, project summary shows 14484 is the largest atom count project (seems these more fully utilize cards like the 580) that is part of openmm. There are only 3 larger atom projects and those are a7. So aside from running core-0.0.13, this may have been my first project from 14484. Still cool even though the points may have been more related to the projects atom size. Still nice to see core22-0.0.13 didn't have an issue with my 580.

Please note that there's a potential for AMD GPUs to run more Project and also maybe a bit faster due to "Several OpenMM bugfixes for AMD GPUs were incorporated" which is in this release. The idea being that all supported Projects will eventually be moved over to the new FahCore_22 version :)

Both your PPDs are very low as for RX580, you should enter your passkey in client after receiving passkey to your email. Click in client "configure" button, then "identity" tab, then click to link above 2 strings for passkey entry. Your PPD with passkey should be between 350k and 500k.

Frontiers, thank you. I do use a passkey and the 580 as a whole is around ~500k per day. The 190k was a single wu and that was the highest one I had seen in my 3 odd weeks of folding, but I think it also was my first encounter with project 14484.
