GTX 670 stays at 0%

It seems that a lot of GPU problems revolve around specific versions of drivers. Though NVidia has their own support structure, you can often learn from information reported by others who fold.

GTX 670 stays at 0%

Yes I know there are other topics on this subject but none of them have an answer, I have added the GPUs.txt to the data folder and it shows my 670 as a 680 which I hear is fine, it however does not ever do any actual folding simple causes my card to boost to around 950mhz but after hours no work is ever completed. I know of atleast one other person with this problem and several people who say it works. I have tried completely uninstalling / reinstalling several times and I am using client-type beta for my gpu slot. Any ideas?

What Jesse_V is VERY obliquely saying is: There is a beta driver for the new Kepler GPUs, they do not work without the beta driver, so go the the Beta thread to learn how to get the beta driver.

Actual beta testers are under NDA which apparently prevents them from being more clear.

I have no idea how to get a "beta driver" I have the client-type beta set in my gpu slot. I really need some clarification

I see the forum post about beta drivers, but no link to download?

Don't need a beta driver. Latest Kepler driver works fine.

After you add that certain client-type setting, you need to do two more things.

1. The slot will be stuck on a non beta WU. Exit FAHControl. Go to Start / Programs / Fahclient / Data folder. Open up the work folder. There will be folder named the same as the slot number for the K card. Delete it.

2. Restart FAHClient. Next WU should fold correctly.

Anyway, CUDA version and enabled looks good. And service is off, also good.

was using 301.42 someone told me to try the one from my EVGA cd so I just did 301.25 neither one works

The drivers from the NV website tend to work better, only because they are generic most of the time. No custimizations to throw off FAH.

Okay, next trick... Configure. Slots tab. Selec GPU slot, click edit. Change GPU-Index from -1 to 1. Okay. Save. Quit. Restart fahcontrol.

okay well it still detects my gpu, downloaded 7640 again, how long should I wait to see if it does anything ?

also the log ends in the same place again.

edit: also if I re-start the control center it resets the slot to -1

Need the specs on the GPU? Overclocked? Good power supply? Double check extra power cable to card is well seated... What are the ambient temps in that room?

i've tried it both overclocked and at stock settings neither works. the power cables are fine. I can play games in 1080p with max settings and no issues. its 75F here without furnace or AC on.

its an EVGA reference GTX 670 2gb.

do you have any other ideas? because afaik and about 99.9% certainty there is nothing wrong with my card.

another log that has no UNSTABLE_MACHINE think that was caused by 301.25 drivers.
