GeForce GTX 260M Failure

It seems that a lot of GPU problems revolve around specific versions of drivers. Though NVidia has their own support structure, you can often learn from information reported by others who fold.

GeForce GTX 260M Failure

Post by realitysconcierge »

I'm not sure where to post this, so I apologize to any offended.

When running FAH on my computer the smp slot runs fine and finishes WUs no problem. My problem is whenever I have my graphics card (geforce gtx 260m) run, it will finish the work unit, but once it sends it the work unit fails and the core is shut down. On my log it states that the machine is unstable and writes the project as faulty. This is what it looks like:

Code: Select all

02:31:15:WU02:FS00:0x11:Folding@home Core Shutdown: UNSTABLE_MACHINE
02:31:16:WU02:FS00:FahCore returned: UNSTABLE_MACHINE (122 = 0x7a)
02:31:16:WU02:FS00:Sending unit results: id:02 state:SEND error:FAULTY project:10501 run:159 clone:1 gen:220 core:0x11 unit:0x000002836652eda54b6ea7a100003e1c
This is a dedicated machine to folding and I would love for it to be running at peak capacity. Any help that can be provided is greatly appreciated.

Welcome to foldingforum.org, realitysconcierge.

Most likely your power savings settings are turning your screen off. Several generations of video drivers had a bug and the only fix was to avoid that power-savings setting. Updating to the latest drivers should also fix it.

That fixed it! Thank you! Now I'll just turn my monitor off manually! Many, many thanks.
