Geforce Not Folding [Was: FAH Client 7.2.9 Not Folding]

It seems that a lot of GPU problems revolve around specific versions of drivers. Though NVidia has their own support structure, you can often learn from information reported by others who fold.

Geforce Not Folding [Was: FAH Client 7.2.9 Not Folding]

I've just installed FAH 7.2.9 on my computer. I have GeForce 9600 GT graphics card with 306.97 drivers. Unfortunately the work doesn't even start on GPU. It fails with UNSTABLE_MACHINE (122 = 0x7a) error. I've found on the forum, that setting the monitor energy saving setting to off may fix the problem. It didn't. I have set my power plan to High performance and set turning off monitor to never. My OS in Windows 7 SP1 32-bit. I haven't overclocked CPU nor GPU.

Any suggestions?

After few reboots and leaving F@H to itself the GPU folding started working. Nothing has been changed in configuration of F@H, OS or GPU. One might say - problem solved!

However, if F@H uses the GPU it is impossible to use a browser (Google Chrome). Everything freezes - a web page is being rendered in 20 sec and generally stops responding. Trying to click on a link or scrolling the page is a pain. I have tried turning off the hardware acceleration like it was suggested somewhere by adding parameters listed in this page. It didn't help. Is there any guide to set a browser properly to work with F@H?

It looks like Google Chrome has way more parameters related to GPU hardware acceleration then those 5 listed on the page I've mentioned. Running chrome with --disable-gpu disabled them all at once. Now I can use my browser and fold on GPU in the same time. Hope it helps someone.

Thank you for sharing that find.

I'm sure it will help others that are folding on their GPU and are using the Chrome browser.

In retrospect, wouldn't something like "Google Chrome interferes with GPU folding" be a better title than either of the current ones?

I could merge this topic with Chrome browser GPU usage
