"Client config unavailable" - not as service

It seems that a lot of GPU problems revolve around specific versions of drivers. Though NVidia has their own support structure, you can often learn from information reported by others who fold.

"Client config unavailable" - not as service

Hi folks!

New user, here. I noticed that my first (and only) GPU job failed, as such:

Doing some research, it appears that people get this when they have F@H configured to run as a service. I do not. I explicitly selected to run on login, and I don't see anything related in services.msc.

Here's some system information, as it will probably be desired:
Microsoft Windows 8.1 Pro (Version 6.3.9600 Build 9600)
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4770K CPU @ 3.50GHz, 3501 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s)
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 (VEN_10DE, DEV_0E22) with driver 337.88

I'm not sure what else you'd need.

Could you please supply the system and config portions of your log (Click refresh before copy and pasting it)?

As a side note the p762x projects run hot compared to most. They will show hardware errors where nothing else will. So check the video cards temperature and make sure you are not OC'ing.

You may want to check your video cards memory using MemtestG80 and MemtestCL.

I'm fairly certain my GPU is nominal, it gets plenty of use doing Cycles rendering and gaming, and I've never noticed corruption, crashing etc. That said, I'm running the tools as you suggest. Heat's not going to be an issue, my fans are clean, and I've a ton of airflow.

EDIT: I've actually got 2 GPUs... it doesn't look like it, but is it possible it's trying to use the CPU SOC's Intel graphics? My interpretation from those logs looks as if it doesn't even see the Intel (which is good, I'd rather it didn't even exist in the chip).

I also see CUDA not detected, which is weird. As well, it supposedly supports OpenCL 1.1. I know for a fact the hardware has it and it works, as I use it for Cycles!

No CUDA is typically a driver issue. Uninstall, driver sweep it, then reinstall. Also, please use no driver newer than v327.23 as it will cut the folding speed in half. Still waiting on a fix from NV.

7im's got it right! No Cuda detected == driver issue. Make sure you get the drivers directly from Nvida and do not allow Microsoft to auto-update drivers (otherwise, someday Microsoft will replace them without warning).
