Best Linux Driver for GTX 1080

It seems that a lot of GPU problems revolve around specific versions of drivers. Though NVidia has their own support structure, you can often learn from information reported by others who fold.

Does anyone know which is the best driver for GTX 1080? I tried 370 but the card could not fold at all. Thanks a lot. I fold on 64 bit ubuntu 14.04.

I installed the driver through ubuntu ppa. A lot of bad work units appear after downloading and never began to fold.

Depend on the source there might be important libs missing; OpenCL.

Can your share parts of your lot showing GPU detection and how the WU fail ?

Can you try the nVidia site install via .run file ; there is a good "how to" in the nVidia section of this forum.

Found it ... viewtopic.php?f=80&t=27040

The drivers PPA is known to excluded the necessary OpenCL driver functionality.

I'm running two GTX 1080's under Ubuntu 16.04, using drivers download from the Ubuntu "Graphics Drivers PPA" (see link).
This allows you to select a driver in the Ubuntu Software & Updates/Additional Drivers section (it's a lot less faff than the .run process). Currently running nVidia version 367.44 - no problems.
