RTX 2080 not detected in ubuntu 18.04

It seems that a lot of GPU problems revolve around specific versions of drivers. Though NVidia has their own support structure, you can often learn from information reported by others who fold.

RTX 2080 not detected in ubuntu 18.04

Hi there

I'm trying to help folding coronavirus WU, but can't get the gpu detected. I can fold with the cpu without problems

I have an ubuntu 18.04 system with an RTX 2080 super GPU, i have nvidia-driver-435 and my gpu is running fine (i work with blender and the gpu is fully working with CUDA)

In the log it seems CUDA device is found and OpenCL device also found, but no GPU

when i add a new GPU slot and press save, an alert is shown:

I'm running F@H version 7.5.1

Hoping someone can help me setup this. Thanks in advance.

Is your OS running native or in a VM?

It's look like that you have execute:

sudo apt update
and
sudo apt install ocl-icd-opencl-dev
and
reboot

Next what you have to do is:
sudo gedit /etc/fahclient/config.xml

change the gpu-entry from 'false' to 'true' and save it.
reboot

Next:
sudo wget https://fah-web.stanford.edu/file-relea ... c/GPUs.txt
sudo cp GPUs.txt /var/lib/fahclient
reboot

If you want to apply the fancontrol:

cd /etc/X11
sudo nvidia-xconfig --cool-bits=4
reboot

To start or stop the client manually:

sudo /etc/init.d/FAHClient start or stop

it seems a problem with the server but not sure if i should set up something else...
